New York spine surgeon submitted duplicate reports: Complaint

Spine surgeon Alexios Apazidis, MD, is facing allegations of filing nearly identical surgery reports between 2020 and 2024, Newsday reported Aug. 8.
Dr. Apazidis made duplicate reports for 24 patients when he was working with Total Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Deer Park, N.Y., according to a complaint filed in New York Supreme Court. He now operates Total Spine and Sports Care in Deer Park.
According to the complaint, reports for at least 10 lumbar spine surgeries shared more than 800 words in identical technical language with patient data and some details being different.
