Prepare for a Career in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring

Axis Neuromonitoring’s ABRET-accredited IONM training program provides structured education, hands-on preparation, and supervised clinical experience for candidates pursuing a career in intraoperative neuromonitoring.

Program graduates may pursue CNIM Exam eligibility through Pathway IV, subject to ABRET’s current candidate requirements. Completion of the program does not itself grant CNIM certification.

Minimum Applicant Qualification

Applicants Must Meet One of the Following Requirements

A bachelor’s degree

Option 2

An eligible ABRET neurodiagnostic credential

Applicants who do not meet at least one of these minimum requirements cannot be considered for the training program.

Program Duration and Commitment

Paid Training Position With a Three-Year Commitment

The Axis Neuro IONM Training Program is a paid position with a minimum three-year commitment to Axis Neuromonitoring.

Didactic instruction is combined with clinical intraoperative training to prepare trainees for CNIM certification over approximately 10–12 months.

After CNIM certification, regional training opportunities in advanced modalities and competencies are available.

About the Accreditation

A Formal Pathway Toward CNIM Eligibility

ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation administers professional credentials across neurodiagnostic specialties, including intraoperative neuromonitoring.

The Axis Neuro IONM Training Program has been approved as an ABRET-accredited formal training pathway. Eligible graduates may pursue the CNIM examination through Pathway IV, subject to ABRET’s current requirements.

CNIM certification is awarded to individual candidates who satisfy ABRET’s eligibility requirements and successfully pass the CNIM examination.

How the Program Works

Structured Education and Supervised Experience

The Axis Neuro IONM Training Program prepares future technologists through online coursework, instructor-led education, practical preparation, case review, clinical discussion, and supervised clinical training.

Trainees develop knowledge in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, monitoring modalities, anesthesia considerations, equipment setup, troubleshooting, signal acquisition, documentation, communication, and clinical decision-making.

Progress is evaluated through knowledge assessments, skills evaluations, direct observation, mentorship, and supervised clinical performance reviews.

Organized instruction covering the scientific, technical, and clinical foundations of intraoperative neuromonitoring.

Practice setups, measurement exercises, equipment preparation, simulations, and mock clinical scenarios.

As the credentialing coordinator, there are many times when the department is called upon to ensure a tech and reader are admitted to a hospital in order to assist a surgeon with a last-minute surgical case.
